2019 Poetry Out Loud competition winner announced

Allison Fitz

Today six Upper Schoolers performed in the school-wide Poetry Out Loud competition. Each contestant recited two poems of choice.

Three judges scored the contestants’ delivery according to five criteria: physical presence, voice and articulation, dramatic appropriateness, evidence of understanding, and overall performance. A separate judge tracked accuracy.

The winner: Katherine Christensen
Runner up: Lauren Bickle

Christensen will represent Annie Wright at the regional competition in spring. There is then a state and national competition. The national champion receives a $20,000 award.
