Study Tips from Ian

by Caroline Dai

Upper School Learning Support Specialist Ian Corey-Boulet shared some tips on preparing for finals. These include:

  1. Set achievable goals. While studying for the finals, you should make sure that you have enough time and energy to set out what you want to accomplish.
  2. Make a schedule of the list of things you want to do.
  3. Space out the activities. It is important to take breaks for retaining information and having a positive mindset.

Beyond these quick tips, he suggested students should use other people as resources in whatever configuration that is comfortable. You can form a study group, work one-on-one with a teacher or a peer or work by yourself. It is helpful to demonstrate what you learn to another person. This communication enables you to clarify what you know and to remember the information.
