Track team helps with Lower School duathlon

On Thursday, the Annie Wright Upper School Track team assisted in facilitating and cheering on Lower Schoolers who participated in a duathlon. The event involved a team of students showing off their skills in running and swimming. The Lower Schoolers took part in this opportunity to compete with and against their friends in a competitive yet supportive environment.

The criteria for the duathlon varied for different age levels. Older students ran two laps around Garfield Park and then high fived their partner to finish the last leg of the race in the pool. Similar to the older students, younger participants ran one lap than high fived their partner to complete a short swim in the pool.

The weather was glorious to start with; however that was short lived and rain began set in. Despite this, the students and some parents braved the rain to watch their young ones compete.

In a dramatic moment, Annie Wright director of athletics Mike Finch jumped into the pool to assist his daughter, who was struggling after giving her all to the run. Fortunately everything turned out okay.
