Today, the Green Ties, as part of their Humanities A course, presented visuals of their research highlighting different people in need of support in developing countries.

After visitors listened to group presentations about each country, they were tasked with “investing” their allotted funds (in the form of poker chips) to whichever group(s) they believed most deserving. The investments were through a non-profit organization called Kiva, which provides loans to people in developing countries.

The highest funded countries were Pakistan, India, Nigeria and Uganda. Loans were for a variety of projects including water filtration, education, farming, health care and small businesses.
